Deep Frost is a single-player, social-deduction horror game that has players investigate the Thaw. The Thaw is a parasitic intelligence that has been copying the crew, and it is your job to find it, keep the outpost alive, build your case and find out who you can trust.

Features:

🔍Investigate The Story – Question researchers, inspect station records and compare accounts. Keep track of your sources in the Case File and your own field notebook. A contradiction gives you a lead; it does not prove someone is infected.

📋Take A Side At The Round Table – Accuse someone, defend a person you still suspect, or keep your theory to yourself. Your public statement and your ballot are separate decisions. Researchers can react to what they witnessed or learned about you.

❤️Keep The Station Alive – Failing systems threaten everyone. Investigate equipment problems and choose how to respond while the crew’s suspicions grow. A successful repair can help the station without clearing anyone’s name.

🫂Return With Different Loyalties – Learn the named crew across runs with changing hidden roles, events and relationships. Play as Crew investigating the infection, or as Thaw trying to divert suspicion. Close reading, uncertainty and social choices drive the tension.

From the moment I set foot in the Antarctic base in Deep Frost it reminded me of a blend between The Traitors and The Thing. Instantly thrown into a facility, it is my task to find the Thaw, the parasitic entity that wants to take over the base. To get rid of those fellow crew mates who had been taken over, I had to observe their behaviour, check logs and deduce who might be lying. Then, at the end of the day, I take what evidence I find and vote them out. If more Thaws are left than crew members, we lose.

I followed the tutorial that explains the basics, and it sets me on a practice run. In this run, I read a few detailed logs on what certain crew members were doing. In my first run through, I checked what Pietra was doing; in the log, he had first scanned his badge, then gone to the mess hall. However, it states that a second repeated scan was done, and Pietra didnt know who did that one. He was in the mess hall, and the log stated he checked in at 5:42 am. He suspected two other members, so I pushed for questioning but sadly didn’t come up with any new clues. The pressure I had put the two suspected members under had a bad effect on them and most of the crew started voting me off instead. The game can be thrown into many different directions depending on the way you talk to people, your behaviour and the choices you make.

Deep Frost is worth a go; there is so much detail within the game. It’s one where, once you learn how to navigate it, you start feeling like the ultimate detective, and that’s why I loved it.

Deep Frost, developed by AeonGames Canada, will be available on Steam on 27th of October 2026. You can download the demo and play for 3 days to try and work out who the Thaw are. Don’t forget to wishlist it if you like what you see, as it helps the developers.
