Cozy Game Restoration developed and published by Parasol Corp is available on Steam now.

Cozy Game Restoration is a soothing simulator where you gently bring forgotten video game cartridges back to life. Tear wrapping paper, peel old stickers, lift away grime, and transform dusty relics into cherished collectibles. No pressure or failure, just the quiet joy of restoring memories.

Features:

👾Restore Forgotten Retro Games – Each cartridge is procedurally dirtied. Some will have labels that are spotless, but cracked plastic shells. Some are scuffed, drawn on and covered in adhesive residue. The grime is also layered, from dust, ink, discolouration and stickers.

🧃Loot Boxes But In A Good Way – Open boxes to reveal which game you’ll be restoring. Wrestle with the tape, peel open the box (try not to rip all the cardboard like I do every single time.) Each game you take out of the box is randomised to have different features with 108 distinctive titles included from the 1980s to the 2000s.

🪎Complete Your Collection – As you restore games, you’ll complete collection-based quests. This might be simple stuff like “collect three puzzle games”, or “two rare platformers”, but you’ll also see more unique things which work with the game’s in-game calendar like “Have 4 sci-fi games on your game shelf on November 7”.

⌛Built For The Feeling – Cozy Game Restoration respects your time, you have no fail state and you’ll have infinite time to relax and take the game at your own pace.

At first glance I thought this game was just cleaning, however it’s much more than that. The cleaning is both relaxing, and fun all at the same time. There’s something satisfying about using the tooth brush to clean between the gaps, or successfully cleaning off a stubborn sticker from the cartridges. (stickers! really?) Not only are you cleaning, but you’ll also find games of different rarities, customise your shelves to feature merch from the video games you’re cleaning and so much more.

Each game is cleverly designed to the point I actually wanted to play some of them. The design of each cartridge and disc is reminiscent of games from the past. which fits the overall theme of the game. Cozy Game Restoration provided the perfect distraction for me. Not only that, it’s a very fun and addictive game that I didn’t want to put down.

If you like what you see the full game is available now on Steam. If you want to try the demo before you buy, it is still available now on the official Steam page.
