Winter Burrow, developed by Pine Creek Games and published by Noodlecake, is available now on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Winter Burrow is a cozy woodland survival game that puts you in the shoes of a mouse that returns from the big city to find their old home in ruin. You’ll have to scavenge resources, craft tools, explore, knit and bake to help your mouse survive the harsh conditions of the winter months. Your Aunt, who was trying to look after the place, has sadly been stolen by an owl. You’ll have to use your resources to rescue her. You’ll meet interesting locals who will aid you by rewarding you with recipes after completing their challenges to help you in your quest.

Features:
- Customise your home burrow with furniture and decorations
- Cook, bake and fry nutritious food
- Knit woollen clothes to keep you warm
- Explore to gather and harvest resources
- Craft useful tools and equipment
- Escape the insect wildlife or fend them off
- Meet the locals and get their help surviving

Winter Burrow is the perfect game for this cold, dark weather. I spotted it on Xbox Game Pass and decided that it sounded like a game I’d enjoy. The survival mechanics, combined with the crafting system and its design, evoke a relaxing feeling throughout. Despite your aunt being in danger from an owl (it definitely wasn’t Marley, our brown wood owl), progressing through the game is a lovely experience. I truly lost myself within it despite the impending danger of the owl and the cold weather. When you restore your home bit by bit, it becomes more relaxing; you can even sit and knit to help your little mouse survive. The graphical art style fits the game perfectly; the winter world is so detailed, down to the tiny weeds that grow between the trees and rocks. The animations of all the creatures you’ll meet along the way suit the personality of each of them. The music that accompanies you on your journey matches the pace of everything you’re doing, and, as mentioned earlier, it makes you feel quite relaxed as it engrosses you in the wonderful experience that is Winter Burrow.
Overall, Winter Burrow is a game I cannot recommend enough. It is adorable and addictive. It’s one of those games where, you know, you should probably be in bed by now, but you just want five more minutes. Pine Creek Games has put a lot of love into this game, and it shows. Everything about the game just had me smiling the whole way through. Winter Burrow is only £15.99 on Steam, £17.59 on Switch, and £16.74 on Xbox. If you have Game Pass, it is also available on there right now.
