Devil Jam, developed and published by Rogueside, will be released on November 3rd on Steam. You can find the page HERE.

Metal heads get ready! It’s time to mosh in Devil Jam, a survivor-like roguelite where music meets mayhem in the fiery depths of Hell. Your band needs a deal, and the only way is to sign your soul away to the devil, which never ends well, does it? After signing the contract, you are dragged to the underworld to perform the gig of your afterlife. You’ll be armed with possessed instruments and a soul full of riffs. In each jam session, you’ll have to fight endless waves of deranged fans, vicious mobs, and hellish rivals. Each run gives you new challenges, new items, and more, so no playthrough is ever the same.

Features:

  • Music-Driven Auto-Attacks: Your instruments play themselves on the beat.
  • Deep Inventory Strategy: A unique 12-slot gear system where positioning matters and synergies reign.
  • Hand-Drawn Hellscapes: Stylish, animated characters and effects bring the underworld to life.
  • Face the Iconic: Take on powerful bosses, including the ultimate metal singer: Death.
  • Fast-Paced Runs: Immerse yourself in rapid, intense underworld battles. Test your skills and survival instincts in action-packed showdowns, ensuring you’re always on the edge of your seat.

Nerdy Birds Insight

Devil Jam is a lot like Vampire Survivors, but manages to differentiate itself with its metal theme. At first, it feels similar, but as you go deeper into the underworld with the different characters, it starts to become its own unique thing. Like Hades Devil Jam also has a hub area that works similarly. You’ll meet interesting characters that will either have a story beat, challenges, missions, items, upgrades and more. The further you progress, the more that opens up. Despite Devil Jam taking inspiration from other titles, it mixes it up in a way that works. I absolutely love how much the game expands. I found myself testing out all sorts of different power-ups and attacks with the characters, which helped in finding my favourite playstyle. I found that the customisation is fairly extensive, with a ton of different options.

Devil Jam is a game that promotes replayability, as trying to beat the set challenges and surpassing your own scores to earn new items is both rewarding and addictive. Like Vampire Survivors, it has a very addictive game loop, where it leaves you clicking the retry button over and over then you realise it’s past dinner time and you’ve already had eight different games. The story itself is quite engaging, signing a contract with the devil is an interesting concept that plays out well narratively and getting to know all the different characters is a joy.

I loved the design of the underworld. You’ll come across all sorts of rock-themed items like magical amps, stage lights, and things you’d get from your typical metal concerts. It’s that detail that adds to the overall experience, and I loved that. The music that accompanies your playthrough is fitting for metal, and I loved it. The music is perfect, and in a game about rock stars, it needs to be pretty great, and it is.
