StarRupture, developed by Creepy Jar, is currently in a public playtest, and I got some hands-on play time with this upcoming survival title.
What is StarRupture? StarRupture is a base-building survival game similar to Satisfactory. You are a prisoner sent to a mysterious planet and must settle your debt by working with corporations to earn your freedom. This means exploring the planet, going up against deadly enemies, mining, exploring, building and more. Of course, not everything goes to plan, and the ever-changing Planet might not be as simple as you first thought.

The playtest was a great experience; it is by far one of the most beautiful survival games out there. From the moment you step off the transporter, you are introduced to an incredible alien landscape ready to build your base and pay those greedy corporations. The landscape is so beautiful that it took me a while to choose the perfect location. Once you’ve settled, you’ll do the tutorial on how all the systems work to help level you up and expand your base. Levelling up means more base parts; your base is key to moving forward in StarRupture. Once the initial tutorial is over, you are left to your own devices to explore the ever-changing planet.

So far, it looks promising. Creepy Jar are the master behind Green Hell, which was brutally challenging. I can see what the developers are going for here; it does remind me of Satisfaction and pulls it off quite well. In the playthrough, I didn’t experience any issues on my 3080 Ti; however, it did put the card through its paces. I also didn’t experience any bugs, which was quite surprising since it’s not available to buy yet.

Verdict
Overall, I had a good time. There’s a lot to see and do, and in the short time I was able to play, it got me excited for what is to come. Sadly, you might need a beefy PC to run it, but if it comes to consoles in the future, hopefully more folk will be able to play it. The public playtest is available now, so jump in if you’re looking for a new survival title to hook you in.
