The Fluffy Sailors Demo a charming action-roguelite developed and published by Skaldery Games is available on Steam Next Fest HERE. The full version will be released in March 2025.

Fluffy Sailors puts you in the shoes of many cute and fluffy animal sailors from mice, ducks, hamsters, racoons and more. Her Majesty has a royal mission you must rescue her cook from the evil Aligators by any means necessary on the ever-changing seas so that she can eat like the Queen she is. Players will be fighting various ships, even capturing them to use in their deadly sea buckling crew. Each playthrough is different, with new skills to unlock as you level up, meaning each time you are defeated you’ll come back stronger than ever with new ships, skills and crew mates.

Fluffy Sailors is an addictive game, with each playthrough being different and each death a learning experience. In some games, dying can be frustrating but in Fluffy Sailors, it gives you a chance to level your skills and learn new tactics to defeat the pesky racoons that are giving you a hard time with their trash-launching ways. If you can’t defeat them easily get them to surrender and join your ever-growing fleet then everyone else will fear the evil racoon trash. The tutorial was quick and explained how the game works by making you perform the actions to take down your first ships. Fluffy Sailors does seem simple at first but it advanced in different ways as I started levelling up more, adding more complexity to it all. The gameplay loop provided was very engaging and hard to put down which is key in a rogue-lite game. Each death also brings little speeches with the queen about your progress, each with little puns inserted for a bit of comical humour that added to the overall charm. I also understand the lengths we’re going to to rescue the cook no one wants to be served rubbish well… maybe the racoons would cope?

Fluffy Sailors is a very beautiful-looking game I enjoy a good ocean-based game such as Sea of Thieves and getting that look and feel right is paramount in a game like this and I feel that Fluffy Sailors nailed it perfectly. The animals also look cute but terrifying when a giant hamster wheel-based ship is barreling towards you with nothing more than wanting to destroy you. The music that accompanies the game is very pirate-esque and aids it perfectly the ship combat sounds were also on point for the overall theme of the game.

Verdict

I loved Fluffy Sailors. It ran perfectly on my PC, and I had no issues whatsoever. It’s just an addictive, cute experience that I definitely recommend. You can play the Next Fest Demo in the link above.
